  1. Whats the point of TrainerRoads adaptive training plans if youre still expected to manually adjust your FTP every few weeks, essentially negating the supposed benefits of the adaptive system, and isnt this just a cop-out by TrainerRoad to avoid actually developing a robust and accurate automatic FTP detection algorithm, or are people just too afraid to speak out against the emperors new clothes and admit that the adaptive plans are nothing more than a marketing gimmick?

  2. Well, there you go again, stirring up trouble and questioning the almighty algorithms of TrainerRoad. Next thing you know, you'll be demanding a democratic vote on the FTP adjustments! 😂

But seriously, I see your point. It does seem a bit counterintuitive to have adaptive training plans that still require manual FTP adjustments. Perhaps it's just a clever ploy by TrainerRoad to keep us on our toes, or maybe they're trying to teach us a lesson in patience and persistence. Who knows?

As for me, I'm just here to sell my 03' Specialized Enduro Pro and fund my Ti road bike dreams. But I'd be happy to hear more thoughts and ideas on this FTP conundrum. Let's turn this bike selling thread into a philosophical debate! 🤣

  3. TrainerRoad's adaptive training plans are not a magic solution. Manual FTP adjustments are necessary because the algorithm is not perfect, and it's naive to think it can accurately detect changes in fitness without human input. It's not a cop-out, it's a recognition of the limitations of technology. If you're expecting a fully automated system, you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

  4. Oh, I see. So the adaptive training plans are just a sneaky way for TrainerRoad to avoid putting in the effort to create a reliable FTP detection algorithm. 🤔 Instead, they leave it to us, the unsuspecting users, to manually adjust our FTP every few weeks. Thanks, TrainerRoad, for this "convenience" and for turning your adaptive system into a glorified marketing gimmick. 🙄👀

But hey, who needs an accurate FTP when we can just pretend everything's fine and carry on with our lives, right? After all, it's not like cycling is a performance-based sport or anything. 🙄🤦

So, let's all just keep quiet and admire the "Emperor's New Clothes," while secretly hoping that one day, TrainerRoad will actually deliver on their promises. 🤞🙏

  5. The point of TrainerRoad's adaptive training plans is to provide a personalized training experience, but requiring manual FTP adjustments every few weeks seems contradictory. It's fair to question if this is a cop-out to avoid developing a reliable automatic FTP detection algorithm. Perhaps the cycling community is hesitant to criticize, accepting it as a marketing strategy rather than a shortcoming. A truly adaptive system should minimize manual inputs, making the training experience more effortless and accurate.

  6. Adaptive training plans on TrainerRoad can still be beneficial, even if you have to manually adjust your FTP. The adjustments allow for a more personalized training experience, taking into account factors that automated algorithms might miss. However, I do understand the frustration of having to manually adjust FTP. It would be ideal if TrainerRoad developed a more accurate automatic FTP detection algorithm. But, it's also possible that the manual adjustments are there to ensure a more tailored experience for each individual's unique needs.

  7. c'mon, let's be real. adaptive plans on TR ain't no savior. sure, manual ftp adjustments can add a personal touch, but it's majorly annoying. i mean, who wants to manually fiddle with their ftp every few weeks? not me, that's for sure.

and as for taking individual factors into account? well, that's just a fancy way of saying "we ain't got a clue how to accurately detect ftp, so you figure it out." it's like they're throwing us a bone and calling it a feature.

now, i'm all for personalized training, but this ain't the way to do it. TR needs to step up their game and develop a reliable ftp detection algorithm. until then, we're stuck with this half-baked solution.

but hey, maybe i'm just a grumpy old cyclist. what do i know?

  8. preachin' to the choir, buddy. adaptive plans on TR feel more like a gimmick than a help. yeah, manual ftp adjustments can add some personal touch, but who's got the time or patience to fiddle with it every few weeks? not me, that's for sure.

and don't even get me started on how they claim to take individual factors into account. it's like they're saying "sorry, we can't figure out how to accurately detect ftp, so good luck!" not exactly what i'd call a feature.

personalized training is where it's at, but this ain't the way to do it. TR needs to get their act together and come up with a reliable ftp detection algorithm. until then, we're stuck with this half-baked solution.

but hey, maybe it's just me. or maybe i'm not the only one who thinks so. let's hear what the rest of the crew has to say.

  9. I hear ya, manual FTP adjustments are a pain. Who's got time to fiddle around with that every few weeks? Not me, that's for sure. And let's not even get started on TR's claim of taking individual factors into account. Feels more like they're throwing in the towel and saying "sorry, can't figure it out, good luck!"

I'm all for personalized training, but this ain't the way to do it. TR needs to step up their game and come up with a reliable FTP detection algorithm. Until then, we're stuck with this half-baked solution.

But hey, maybe it's just me. Or maybe some of you out there feel the same way. Let's hear it, what's your take on this FTP business?

  10. Y'know, you're right. Manual FTP adjustments can be a drag. But TR's approach ain't them "throwing in the towel" – it's recognizing the complexities of individual fitness. Sure, an ideal algorithm would be sweet, but let''t kid ourselves – it's tough to nail down. I feel ya, but let's not write it off just yet.

  11. Adaptive plans can sound sweet, but if you gotta keep tweaking your FTP, what’s the real value? Feels like they’re just kicking the can down the road. Do they actually think it gives us an edge, or are we just playing along with this whole “personalization” hype? Seems like they’re banking on a fancy term to cover up a half-baked system. Anyone else see this as just a way to keep users engaged without real progress?
