Hi All, Well, Im on insulin now, and Im depressed about it. Gave myself the first shot of Lantus. As
a general ballpark, what can I expect to see from it? Its only been about 45 minutes now. Ill be
monitoring my BG levels but am wondering if anyone has had any adverse side effects, etc. Ive also
seen on the ng that Lantus should be refrigerated. Also, and most importantly, what does rDNA orgin
mean? Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Brian

Hi Brian,
I'm new to Lantus also. Been on it for a week now. I started with 10 units and now up to 22 units.
No side effects for me so far. Well, I do tend to get tired after it but who know's if that's a side
effect or not. My blood sugar was normally in the high 200's to high 300's. With eating better, and
increasing the insulin, I have woken up with levels at the normal range! The lantus starts to work
in an hour and lasts up to 24 hours. You still have to eat good though to keep the levels within a
normal range. My doctor says if I can't control the eating, then I would have to go on a fast acting
insulin to control the sugars after meals. Lantus doesn't have a peak, it's a slow realease
throughout the day. Read some more on the Lantus page, I've learned alot. I've also bought some
books to help me understand the monitoring and the roles food plays in diabetic care. The one book I
purchased was from the
A.D.A that has been helpful. If you go to there site, there's a link to it. I'd be interested in
chatting with you more.. I'm sooooooo confused myself! Good luck!"Brian Oakley" <[email hidden]> wrote in message "]news:[email hidden]...

Hi, I'm borderline for last year and a half, A1c of 4.7 but with bad diet can do a fasting Bg of
127. I had a car accident several years ago, fine now with steel rods in leg and arm, but in rehab
i had my own epiphany. There was me, a middle aged man screaming in pain and a small group of
spinal injuries envious i could still feel anything. Look into the eyes of a 17 year old quad, most
are young men that age, diving accidents, spring break, stupid stuff that I did once.. Anyway,
being laid up for a couple years, i gained a lot of weight, might have led to this trouble, who
knows. Point is, it's all relative, so many would give anything to settle for a DX of T2. For what
it's worth."Denise and Dave" <[email hidden]> wrote in message
