  1. I'm researching for my husband's sake, since he gets zero response from our primary physician.

He suffers from diabetes and is on Glucovance. For the past several months his fasting a.m. readings
have yo-yo'd. For a few weeks or so, they will be low (70's and 80's). Then everything swings to
high readings in the high 200's, with no change in diet.

Also, for months now he has suffered from two things: an ice-cold foot on the one hand and heavy
(and I mean heavy) total body sweats to where he has to rip off his shirt even in public. Could this
be caused by diabetes? He just doesn't get any reaction or referral from the doctor and just wishes
he could clear up these problems.

Many thanks for any thoughts you may have.

  2. As soon as possible get another primary doc and a referral to an endo. You are the customer in
control of the service you get in medicine, fire the current doc and get one who provides the
    service you want.

I am no doc, and am loathe to give direct medical advice. I will say this however, your husband
needs to see an endocrinologist.....Yesterday. Don't fool around with this PCP, he is quite
obviously ignorant of diabetes if he has not responded to the symptoms your husband has presented. I
don't know what your insurance situation is as to referrals, or what the endo situation is in your
area. (there is a shortage in most areas of the world) but IMO, you shouldn't wait.

These are not symptoms commonly attributed to diabetes.

Actualy, they are more disturbing then many common diabetes symptoms. They sound like he has
some other medical problem, or perhaps an allergic reaction to one of his meds, or perhaps an
interaction between meds. However, the symptoms are not mentioned in the internet discussions
    of the Glucovance, e.g.

The published allergic reactions to the glyburide in Glucovance are:

seizures loss of consciousness skin rash itching or redness exaggerated sunburn yellowing of the
skin or eyes light-colored stools dark urine unusual bleeding or bruising fever sore throat

The common and uncommon side effects of the metformin in Glucovance are

    Common:

Nausea, stomach upset, diarrhea or metallic taste

    Uncommon:

chills, weakness, change in heart rate, breathing problems, sleepiness, muscle pain, vomiting.

    Rare: Lactic Acidosis:

Seek immediate medical attention if you develop any of the following symptoms of lactic acidosis:
unusual tiredness (fatigue) or severe drowsiness, muscle pain, breathing trouble or rapid breathing,
    unusually slow or irregular heartbeat

I think you need a specialist. That "cold foot" sounds like a blood circulation problem that could
endanger his foot. The sweating could be some sort of endocrine problem, especially with those high
sugars. High sugars like that tend to be a symptom of recurring infections or the like.

None of this sounds like it can be left alone.

(You might post on sci.med. . .lots of doctors read that one.)

    Regards
    Old Al

Until you can follow that excellent advice, go to alt-support-alt-support-
diabetes.org/Newly%20Diagnosed.htm . The information there may be helpful.

Body sweats may be from the diabetes, but are also a symptom of many other things. Has he had a full
    blood pathology workup?

Get that second opinion as soon as possible. Neuropathy is not something to wait on.

He needs to see a different Dr. The symptoms you describe could be diabetic neuropathy. Or they
    could be something else.

  7. To Dora at [email hidden],

Everyone gave you good advice. If you can't get you husband to follow it, you might want to consider
taking out some burial insurance because funerals can be more expensive than doctor visits !

  8. Hi Limey, Its so sad that your husband faces such problems.

For an ice-cold foot that your husband has, its most probably caused by his heart problem, where the
heart pressure couldnt reach his arms or legs, since arms and legs are farthest away from heart.

So, to overcome this problem, he should take in QoEnzyme Q10.

Personally my friend had this problem, after consuming a Q10 product, he is getting better, as the
heart beat is regulated and improved.

Let me know only if you are interested in this product, then only I introduced the product from you.

    Hope this helps.

These all could be caused by diabetes, or any of a large number of other things. If the doctor does
not think these should be looked into, get another doctor.

You are a thinly disguised salesdroid of an un-named "supplement", probably because it is one of
colloidal silver, chromium piccolinate, or NONI JUICE, all of which are sold through pyramid scheme
multi-level-marketing and none of which work for diabetes.
