Hello fellow cyclists,
Im curious to hear your thoughts on the great debate between 700c and 650b wheels for gravel riding. Ive heard some strong opinions on both sides, and Im not sure which one to choose for my next gravel bike build.
Those who swear by the 700c wheels argue that they are faster and more efficient on gravel roads. They also appreciate the larger range of tire options available. On the other hand, the 650b enthusiasts claim that the smaller wheel size offers better traction, comfort, and control on rough terrain.
Personally, Im drawn to the potential benefits of the 650b wheels, especially when it comes to comfort and handling. However, Im concerned that I might be sacrificing speed and efficiency in the process. Im also not sure if the limited tire options for 650b wheels would be a problem in the long run.
So, I thought Id bring this up for discussion and see what you all think. Which size do you prefer for gravel riding, and why? Have you tried both and had a clear favorite? Or do you think it ultimately comes down to personal preference and riding style?
Im excited to hear your thoughts and start a friendly debate. Lets help each other make informed decisions for our next gravel bike builds!
Best regards,
Hermank the Cyclist.
