new software from Lifescan

Hi Maureen,

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I have the Ultra Smart as well and I am using the new software. It
is not any improvement over the old sofware. As for the Ultra Smart, I don't enter all the data
either, but I hoped for the large screen to at least list several BG readings in sequence, but it
doesn't. (I called Lifescan on this.) About the only thing I like about it over the Ultra is it's
slim profile and modern appearance.

FWIW, Lifescan makes the best meters on the market. If you find their meters unsatisfactory, wait
until you try some of the others! I've tried most on the market. I have NOT tried a Freestyle. (I
use and LOVE the Ultra.)

Sorry to hear that... I downloaded it without problems, though it took 3+ hours on my rural phone
line. Thank the girls are grown and out; I'd have an insurrection on my hands! I've recently
replaced an Accu-check Advantage with a Lifescan Ultra-Smart on the advice of my nutritionist, and
the interconnect cable is on order. Too bad about the software, but maybe they'll listen to their
customers. If it's any consolation, I paid for the Accu-check software (and cable) from Roche
Labs, and it's pretty brain dead. Written by an outside contractor, no changes possible.... though
it has a few quirks, I'm currently using BJ Tracker, which is freeware. Works nice, but no
download capability as yet. Anybody want Accu-Check "Compass" and the cable for the Advantage?

I'm not sure what you're looking for but doesn't the Glucose Trend chart in the software do what you
are describing? You can set the date range, there are defaults and a custom setting.

Why don't you try my free software to show all kinds of graphs on your measurements? It cannot read
directly from any meter, but if you can export your data into an text file, you might be able to
import it in my database and create all kinds of graphs. If your meter or software is not supported
by my program, send me a sample of your file and I will try to enable my program to import from it!

But you can't select which blood glucose values are plotted. I would find the chart useful if I
could select "before breakfast" readings or other such selection. The meter itself actually has
better chart data selection capabilities than the PC software. Now the plot isn't as useful, but
data selection is better.

I haven't tried but a number of people I know and trust have run much more sophisticated and
demanding programs under it ( Including AutoCAD ) and it works well for them.

software to support the advanced functions of the UltraSmart.

Any users that would like an updated software should write/call/email LifeScan and make their
desires known.

I suppose, but it wasn't released until I think months after the UltraSmart was released. We're
talking about Version 2 of the software, not the old 1.3.

Agreed, although Lifescan in the past has been nonresponsive to criticisms of their software,
claiming the requirements for testing to FDA requirements made it too difficult even to resize
windows, for example.

The only version I've ever had is version 2.0. I had it before I had the UltraSmart. I got the
UltraSmart about a month after it came out.

Actually, I don't use the LifeScan software. I use Kathleen's Diet Planner. It does it all, and
contains the USDA database for meal planning/computing.

Perhaps I misremember the sequence. I thought I had to wait after I got the UltraSmart before I
could import data. Maybe it was the Ultra?

In any event, the Profile had the same coding features, and the Profile has been around since before
the 1.3 version, so arguments for program flexibility really have nothing to do with when the
UltraSmart was released.

I hadn't heard of that program before. Does it allow you to import values directly from the meter?
