Hi, Does anyone know where I can obtain, in UK, vegan yoghurt culture for vegan yoghurt making, ***without*** having to buy actual fresh vegan yoghurt? I know I can use fresh live vegan yoghurt but it is inconvenient. I was wondering if there is a company that does it mail order. Thanks!
I'm a little confused here as I thought yoghurt was a dairy product and, therefore, a vegan product of this type would be impossible. There are, of course, yoghurt alternatives made with soya which are not called yoghurt at all - is this what you mean? "herbwormwood" <[email hidden]> wrote in message "]news:[email hidden]...

Hello, Maybe yoghurt is the wrong term, but as you say, it is possible to gat vegan yoghurt substitute which is made from soya milk and bacteria similar to the ones in cows milk yoghurt, but they are difffernt, acidophilus is one of them. I have located Solgar Acidophilus powder, which I have read can be used to make vegan yoghurt. It is labelled as Vegan. I will try it out fairly soon. I usually use a carton of live Soyasun vegan yoghurt but it doesnt keep well. The Solgar powder has a long shelf life.
