  1. Here's another bean curd recipe which tastes actually a lot like
    chicken...which is probably why I don't like it that much...but anyway, I've
had good responses from other people. I know I stole the recipe from
somewhere but I'm not sure where:

1 large sheet of bean curd skin
1/2 cup or so veggie stock 1 tsp salt 1tsp sugar 1 tsp sesame oil

    oil for deep frying

Put all ingredients except bean curd into a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Let cool.

soak the bean curd until it's pliable, put it in the bottom of a steamer (hanging over the edge) and
ladle some of the broth over the first layer. Fold the edges of the bean curd into the center and
ladle more broth on that. Fold again, ladle again until the bean curd is fairly tightly folded.
Steam for 10-15 mins. Roll the parcel up tightly and deep fry till golden brown.

Serve with lemon sauce. (lemon juice, water, sugar, salt and thickened with cornstarch)

    <snip>

Deep frying is one of the most unhealthy ways of cooking things. If the pics I've seen of certain
afv regulars are any indication of how plump the rest are, this group needs more focus on healthy
recipes. Please consider this in the future before posting.

I think I used to get something like this at a chinese restaurant SF many years ago. Great stuff.
Next time I can find some bean curd skins I'll give it ago. Thanks.

  4. Let me educate us. Deep fry = long term death. Not a good thing; You can deep fry the healthiest
foods, and you have a deadly combination/

And when exactly did I imply that it was a healthy recipe?

Thank you for the education, but I was already aware that fried foods are unhealthy if eaten in
large amounts. Hence the beauty of eating in moderation.
