  1. hi,

I'm preparing to go vegan and need to find out what to do about the 3 tablespoons of whey that my
bread machine recipe calls for. do I omit it or substitute something for it? if a substitute is
called for, please be specific since I live in a small town with only one health food store and I
don't know what I'm talking about yet anyway.

    thanks.

Whey is simply a milk byproduct. It's the dried watery part separated from coagulated milk (e.g.,
cheese, yogurt). It's high in protein, albumin, etc. You can simply omit it if you don't have any or
if you choose not to use it.

    Why are you going vegan?

Without a specific recipe it's a little hard to give accurate substitutions so I'm not even going to
venture to guess....however, here's a link to a great site with lots of vegan bread machine
recipes... perhaps you'll find a similar recipe?

Easy. One tablespoon of pre-cooked soya flour.

  5. Are 3 tablespoons really going to make that much difference if they're left
out or substituted with, say, water or soya milk or apple juice or whatever?
