Whats the point of even hosting a gravel bike event if youre just going to let anyone show up with whatever bike they want? I mean, seriously, do you guys really think its a good idea to let people ride their heavy, suspension-less road bikes on technical gravel trails? Its a recipe for disaster. And dont even get me started on the safety aspect - whats to stop some clueless newbie from showing up on a bike with skinny tires and no brakes, and then wondering why they cant keep up with the group?
And another thing, whats the deal with these gravel events that are just glorified road rides on dirt roads? If I wanted to ride on smooth, well-maintained dirt roads, Id just stick to my road bike. Wheres the challenge? Wheres the adventure? Its all just a bunch of posers trying to be trendy and ride the latest fad.
And the courses! Oh man, the courses are always so poorly designed. Either theyre too easy and boring, or theyre too technical and dangerous. Cant anyone come up with a course thats actually challenging but still safe? Its not that hard, people.
So, I ask you, whats the point of hosting a gravel bike event if its just going to be a joke?
