Whats the deal with mechanics and their complete disregard for proper spoke installation? Its like theyre intentionally trying to sabotage our wheels. Ive seen it time and time again - a bike comes in for a tune-up, and the next thing you know, the spokes are loose, the nipples are stripped, and the wheel is warped. And dont even get me started on the professionals who think they can get away with using the wrong type of spoke wrench.
How can we trust these so-called experts to do the job right when they cant even be bothered to follow basic protocol? I mean, its not like its rocket science - make sure the spokes are tightened in a star pattern, use the correct torque, and for the love of all things holy, dont overtighten them! And yet, time and time again, I see wheels coming out of shops that are barely holding together.
So, I ask you - whats the secret to preventing spoke damage from improper installation? Is it really that difficult to get it right? Are there any mechanics out there who actually care about doing the job correctly, or are we all just doomed to suffer at the hands of incompetence?
