  1. is it possible to use sealed bearings on a single piece crank?

    Some terminology first:
    - all bearings where you can’t see straight into the balls and races are sealed bearings.
    - what you have in the pic is a cartridge bearing. Many of these are sealed, but not all.

    And no, you can’t use cartridge bearings on a one-piece/Ashtabula/Fauber crank.
    The reason being, they’re ot designed for that. you wouldn’t be able to slide one over the bends in the crank. Nor would there be any way to secure the inner race to the crank.
