Ok, this is cross-posting, but if a wrongly ascribed quote from the SBS cycling forum gets aired on national teevee, I want an right of reply!
See below for what I posted to the SBS forum.

Ibbo is perfectly entitled to his/her point of view, but so am I. I like Singlespeeds. I really really do. 🙂)))

OYE!!!!
The quote on Cycling Central progamme re: 11th January, was by ibbo, not me!
My reply below ibbo's first post was pro, not anti Single Single.
Please SBS, get your facts straight on the programme before broadcasting!
See below - or refer to the thread on Mountain Biking

gee Tony, I tht the comedy started after the intro to the single speed MTBers. I was wondering if it was meant to be screened on 1st April.
but really, I found the whole piece a great tonic. it provided some welcome relief from all that serious roadie stuff.
keep it up Jim Trail
and Mr DMC, I don't envy your task of trying to be all things to all cyclists in 30mins, but the 3 minute formula doesn't fit all segments. Jim's work within it, but give Hodgy's a bit more time. It takes a bit more time to impart info than simply to entertain.

Well, that's a main point of SS, don't take yourself too seriously.
We were at the SS Nats & SSW03 last year in Castlemaine. Beer, high jinx, international riders, men in dresses riding technical singletrack The male & female winners at SSW03 copped a tattoo. SS is a reaction against certain aspects of cycling AND a reminder of how much gawddamn fun cycling is supposed to be...watching a guy ride the SSW03 on a fixie was a highlight for me...well why not..whatever floats your boat.
