related to a previous post RE adding an extension to my steer tube.
The cables are original and 15 years old on my CAAD9-6.
The covers and cables look OK, but in thinking about adding this riser, they will get tight with existing cables.
They are not full cover. With little stand off beads under the top tube for the rear brakes.
I assume that I should replace with the same partial cover cables in the same manner and not try to cover the exposed sections?
I think these are the brake set, but not sure of the shifter set.

Install the riser first and worry about the cables later. It may not look as bad as you think and the original cables might just work without any problems with the riser stem.
Otherwise, I have no idea about CAAD9 cables.

Yup, seemed pretty standard setup before the newer style integrated cable setups on newer bikes.
You can see my shifter cables are cover from the grips down to the cable stop on the downtube.
Then the cable is bare down to the bottom bracket area where it is threaded through a plastic guide. Heading to the rear derailleur where it once again meets st a cable stop continuing in the housing so that it keeps its form rounding into the rear derailleur.

Plus they look much cleaner.

Hey there! I completely understand your frustration with cables getting in the scene of your front-mounted GoPro. It can definitely be annoying when you're trying to capture some awesome footage and the cables end up hindering the view. That's why I'm all in for the newer integrated cable setups too!
