I have created a fairly extensive map of the areas surrounding Helsinki, mostly to the north and to
the west, which might be helpful.

In next planned released CycleAtlas map support will be improved with some new features like
shapefiles to display object likes sea, river, .. , web mapserver maps (like mapblast) and DEM
(digital elevation model) data to compute automatically road profile, Some screenshots of this
planned release are available (see cycleatlas.sf.netcycleatlas.sf.netOpen ↗ ) A development release (probably
instable and incomplete ) is planned between 20-30 days

Map format will be in XML, in order to favorite exchange data with other application. The problem is
that I don't known free world road data (except TIGER data, relative to U.S. only)
