Instead I've had a little bit of a history lesson.

Whatever happened to Tesla. I just hoped that he lived longer just so we were able to see his visions and plans come into fruition. How many more Tesla do we know of today?

Tesla was an absolute genius! He was also a little bit too much of a madman, I am certain that everyone heard about his special relationships with pidgeons?

I actually thought this was about the car Tesla at first. I now wonder if the car has something to do with one of Tesla's inventions or discoveries. Interesting!

I don't know about the man but I surely know about Tesla Men’s Trail Running Minimalist Barefoot Athletic Shoe. I have one of those pairs and they are great.

Nikola Tesla was one hell of a man and one of the world's few real geniuses. History books are flooded with tons of pseudo-geniuses who never truly discovered anything. I won't name any names as I don't want to start a flame war, I just suggest that people do a bit of research on several esteemed gentlemen. Nevertheless, Nikola Tesla was the real deal and his intellect and discoveries were above and beyond, that of his peers.

Tesla was a genius unlike any other we have ever known. Was he a madman? I don't think so, I think people were so overwhelmed with what he was conjuring up and therefore thought of him as a madman. Remember the witch trials of Salem? people became scared of someone doing something odd and had them tried and hung as witches (most of these were false accusations), this is a lot like Tesla, humans were scared at what he was trying to do and labeled him a madman...falsely. Testa was not only above and beyond his peers I believe a lot of his studies are still far and beyond the peers of today!! His problem was that he didn't have modern technology to help him develop his plans, that's how far ahead he was.

But why? People are fast to judge him but give no reasons why he was broke. He was trying to build a giant global wireless communications network and had gotten some financial backing from JP Morgan but he also had to use all of his own money and couldn't get it off the ground so it failed. At the end of his life he became a bit scattered brain according to reports, not sure what was going on with him but if could have been some psychological problem that could have been remedied in today's world or it could been alzheimers. But whatever the problem was doesn't take away from his genius. Einstein was known to take long walks and get lost because he became confused as to where he was, did anyone label Einstein as a madman? Perhaps Einstein was more of a madman then Tesla since it was Einstein who helped develop the atomic bomb...Einstein later regretted his role in the creation of the bomb but there was some justification in helping create it...it was done before the Germans would do it.

The final design Tesla started building at Wardenclyffe consisted of a wood-framed tower 186 feet (57 m) tall and the cupola 68 feet (21 m) in diameter. It had a 55-ton steel (some report it was a better conducting material, such as copper) hemispherical structure at the top (referred to as a cupola). The structure was such as to allow each piece to be taken out and replaced as necessary.

The main building occupied the rest of the facility grounds. Stanford White designed the Wardenclyffe facility main building. It included a laboratory area, instrumentation room, boiler room, generator room and machine shop. Inside the main building, there were electromechanical devices, electrical generators, electrical transformers, glass blowing equipment, X-ray devices, Tesla coils, a remote controlled boat, cases with bulbs and tubes, wires, cables, a library, and an office. It was constructed in the style of the Italian Renaissance. The tower was designed by W.D. Crow, an associate of White.
There was a great deal of construction under the tower to establish some form of ground connection but Tesla and his workers kept the public and the press away from the project so little is known.

The descriptions (some from Tesla's 1923 testimony in foreclosure proceedings on the property) include that the facility had a ten by twelve foot wood and steel lined shaft sunk into the ground 120 feet (37 m) beneath the tower with a stairway inside it. Tesla stated that at the bottom of the shaft he "had special machines rigged up which would push the iron pipe, one length after another, and I pushed these iron pipes, I think sixteen of them, three hundred feet, and then the current through these pipes takes hold of the earth."[17] In Tesla's words the function of this was "to have a grip on the earth so the whole of this globe can quiver."[18][19]

There is also contemporaneous and later descriptions of four 100 foot long tunnels, possibly brick lined and waterproofed, radiating from the bottom of the shaft north, south, east, and west terminating back at ground level in little brick igloos.[20] Speculation on the tunnels ranges from them being for drainage, acting as access ways, or having the function of enhancing ground connection or resonance by interacting with the water table bellow the tower, maybe via being filled with salt water or liquid nitrogen.[21][22]

The Tesla biographer John Joseph O'Neill noted the cupola at the top of the 186 foot tower had a 5-foot hole in its top where ultraviolet lights were to be mounted, perhaps to create an ionized path up through the atmosphere that could conduct electricity.[23] How Tesla intended to employ the ground conduction method and atmospheric method in Wardenclyffe's design is unknown.

Legit? we don't know, how much did the historian get correct facts about? Was Tesla able to complete it? There is a lot of missing information and some information I assure you was falsified, or glorified, due to misunderstanding of the technology that Tesla was trying to do because no one else had ever seen the likes of such technology and had no understanding of it or him. This is an extreme example but it would be like a man in the Roman era looking forward into the future and seeing another man using a IPad, how would a Roman be expected to explain that or understand it?

Tesla is the one that invented the radio, not to mention over 700 patents not to mention creating at the time the electrical wonder of the world when he designed the Niagara Falls power plant, the Tesla coil which is used in every TV and Radio ever made not to mention a lot of other applications. Remote control radio that is the basis used today in robotics and satellite communications just to mention a few. He created and pushed for AC that is used everywhere now; Tesla created fluorescent bulbs and used them in his lab about 40 years BEFORE industry "invented" it. He invented the laser that most people don't realize.

By far not a madman, a genius unlike anyone ever born on this earth thus far, with a life that ended with some sort of mental handicap brought on by age.

That doesn't take away from the fact that Tesla was a genius. After all, it doesn't matter how much wealth we accumulate on this earth. We all die eventually, we don't take our material possessions and money with us. I don't get why it's such a big deal when historical figures and famous people die penniless.
