  1. Never having used ephedra, I can only guess at its desirable aspects for some. All stimulants
provide a rush of euphoria and general good feeling of power and well being. Marijuana included. But
unknown is the fact (and I say fact, because I am that sure) that stimulants have a dark side. They
can cause illness in a second or third, etc. party that happens to be a friend or family of the
person taking the stimulants. strange, uncanny, unfair situation. strange because the process is
illogical, unscientific and almost unbelievable. uncanny because again it is illogical, unscientific
and almost unbelievable. Unfair, because while it may affect the user adversely sometimes, it VERY
OFTEN affects another party with whom the user has a mind connection and causes the other party a
very real and often dangerous illness, i.e. crohns illness or some other illness not recognized as
originating from the stimulant. And what puts it in the Believe it or not category is that the
illness occurs and remains regardless of the distance of the two or more parties involved. They need
not be in the same room to feel the illness. They can be miles and states apart, the mind connection
is the key to the illness. Many times the person in distress can prove it by thinking of the person
on the stimulant and become ill right then. I am all for Ephedra, or any other stimulant if it would
only kill or sicken the user, but the reality is that it sickens an innocent party, without the
knowledge of the user. And trying to get a tranquillizer like Valium or Ativan to lessen the stress
is almost impossible. They will to a certain extent alleviate and counteract the stimulant. But the
FDA has got it backwards. Valium and Ativan are controlled substances so the other choices to
control Crohns, etc, are the strongest possible medications including remicade, not to speak of the
fear and suffering the illness causes. Also, natural herbs that have natural stimulants are harmful
also, as is Xanax and Buspar to the ill person. I REPEAT, CROHNS AND MANY OTHER ILLNESSES ORIGINATE
FROM STIMULANTS. CROHNS IS NOT OF ORGANIC NATURE. THAT AND MANY OTHER CONDITIONS ARE SIMPLY A
    REACTION TO STIMULANTS.

When someone dies unexpectedly from a condition not previously known, one can suspect a stimulant as
the cause. Athletes, musicians, and ordinary persons.

In the county hospital in Chicago, in the newborn section, babies born to mothers on stimulants or
recreational drugs throw up constantly, a condition called rumination. They are thought to be trying
to bond with the mother but because of the drug they cannot, so rumination takes place. This
reasoning is incorrect. They do not know who the mother is in trying to bond. It is the stimulant
causing the rumination no matter who would be caring for the baby. However, correctly, the baby is
taken from the mother and given to a surrogate caretaker not on a drug, which solves the problem.

If this were an established fact, there would be a lessened cause for illness, as the stimulants
    perpetuate the cycle.

Dr. Crohn was puzzled by the illness (named for him once realized it is not only an illness of the
digestive system, but can strike ANY part of the body). I often wish he were here, because the
cause is here, definite and definable. Weird illnesses, weird conditions, weird cause.

And tell a person their medication, recreational or otherwise is causing them to be ill, the last
thing they will do is cease it. It is just too comforting to give it up. I agree with that part, but
one must consider at what cost can the use continue. The only comforting words I can offer is that
"all healing is the release of fear". Crohns and other unrecognized conditions are STRESS, STRESS,
STRESS, due to stimulants. These conditions are reaching epidemic proportions. And age, etnicticity,
genes, and what have you are no barrier or factor. ANYONE can be a victim as the stimulant is of
such strength as to break the barrier of mind.

You can read some of it in more detail on website ascc.healingwell.comgailfaq.htm

If heeded, it will help to save lives, and if the FDA will reconsider the control on the true
tranquillizers, so physicians will not be so reluctant to prescribe them, and much of the fear will
    be harnessed.

I wish everyone to be well from so many of these undefined illnesses caused by stimulants. An age of
enlightenment is sure to follow. Strangely, I hardly consider these undefined illnesses to be in the
physicians realm, they too are puzzled by the course of these mysterious paths, their research on
treatments continue and are of unmeasureable assets, but the ROOT AND CAUSE of an illness remains
the key to abolishment and needless suffering and deaths.

  2. Apparently I am at least correct in saying my post on Ephedra falls into the believe it or not
category. And I assume no one can believe it. (some have and benefitted, but do not wish to fall
into the wacky category) So very sorry there cannot be a more rational cause for some illnesses,
(i.e. crohns, etc) then the world would beat a path to one's door. And some of the unknowns will
remain the mystery they are, and we will be taken aback when faced with a sudden demise or hopefully
only suffering. and ask WHY. The research labs will remain busy for the next century and more just
as in the past century looking for a more suitable cause. Gail

    Marijuana is not a stimulant.

  4. David Wright, Common misconception. MARIJUANA IS A STIMULANT. Creates a euphoric state, then
drowsiness. I have known it to kill, yes kill an unsuspecting innocent person, in fact, more than
one. Want to try it? Gail

No, I want to see more evidence than your unverified word.

David Wright Take it or leave it. Marijuana is a stimulant. Ignorance of that fact can kill. As I
said, the unfair part is that it is an innocent person that is usually affected. Marijuana doesn't
kill the user as far as I know. Now, cocaine is another matter.

I don't suppose you'd care to explain this? In your previous post, you said you'd known marijuana to
kill, now you say it doesn't kill the user. Make up your mind.

Marijuana has some mild stimulant effects -- it can raise heart rate and blood pressure, but
compared to, say, crystal meth, it's not much of a stimulant. The only thing it generally stimulates
    is appetite.

It also has depressant effects, so it's not really accurate to classify it as just one or the other.

    David,

Did not contradict myself, marijuana and cocaine plus other stimulants are killers in different
ways. Marijuana can kill by association. As far as I know, a person cannot die from an overdose.
But if you read my layman's theory on the cause of crohns, you will know what I mean by
    association.

Sorry, I'd failed to realize what I was dealing with in you.

You have a gift for understatement.

You also have a really deficient newsreader, which means that you aren't able to supply any context

I don't think anyone can overdose on Marijuana.

You can overdose on anything, including water, but one person, smoking marijuana at a typical pace,
    is not going to overdose.

    David,

Tell me, why would anyone use Marijuana. To get depressed or to get Euphoric.

Usually the latter. Also, you are confused about the difference between a CNS depressant and the
    psychological state of depression.

    Quoted message said:

Certainly no one would deliberately use something to raise their heart rate.

    Beware of blanket statements.

    Quoted message said:

Maybe it doesn't compare to amphetamines, but it is a CNS stimulant and no matter how little of a
stimulant it is, it will react in the manner I wrote. Does anyone take it to stimulate their
    appetite.

Yes. In fact, the prescription form (Marinol) is used for exactly this purpose. Marijuana is
    notorious for triggering "the munchies."

    Quoted message said:

I need an anti-depressant desperately, as I am real down, but never will I use one.

You feel a need to suffer?
