My Mavic Aksium wheel came with one. Are they any good? How would they compare to a Schwalbe Marathon Plus?

I've never use Schwalbe Marathons, but the Mavic Aksion 23 MM tires that came on my Aksiums were kind of dead compared to better racing level tires such as the Michelin Pro 3 and 4 Service Course or Vredestein Fortezza Tri-Comps. They felt stiff and lacking in a 'feel' of the road. The Mavic tires have decent grip and wear well, at least under me. Puncture and cut resistance was average IMO.
I have a pair of Yksions (where the Hell does Mavic come up with their naming scheme?), but have not used them yet.

Schwalbe Marathon Plus is a heavy tyre for touring and serious commuting duties ... The smallest 700c they come in is 25mm but even that tyre weighs in at 595 grams. What is your intended use? I suspect that you are comparing apples with oranges here in terms of the Marathon Plus versus the Mavic tyre. Andrew
