If you stop along the way on a ride does the 510 automatically pause? Does it automatically restart or do you have to press the start bottom again?

Depends on how you set it. Go into the settings menu and there's an auto pause option you can set to off or on, and also at what speed it auto pauses (something slightly over 0mph is recommended unless you want it starting and stopping like crazy every time you wiggle the bike).
