1. It looks pretty feature-rich. Should I subscribe to it instead of MapMyRide?

  2. They each have their fans. I preferred Strava. YMMV.

  3. Maybe this can help. http://sportivecyclist.com/mapmyride-vs-strava-a-detailed-comparison/. I prefer Strava, but just my personal preference.

  4. I used MMR in the distant past and moved over to STRAVA. Recently STRAVA has stripped out some of the features for the free accounts, which I think is a mistake and they will probably loose some members.

I plan to weather it and see if they bring the features back.

  5. STRAVA and MMR elevation numbers are taken from different planets. I swear.

On a given 40-mile loop. MMR may come up with 1500' of climbing while STRAVA will interpolate 2600' from the same ride data file.

So...if'n ya like to brag, STRAVA is the way to go. I could not tell you which of the sites is more accurate...no idea.

MMR, Training Peaks and Cateye Atlas come close(st) to agreeing on elevation, but they all disagree significantly on calories burned.

It all comes down to what website(s) you enjoy using, Which one your friends use, which features fit your training, etc.

I haven't used my Cateye Stealth 50 GPS computer since last fall. I guess it's time to charge the battery and swap it in for the Cateye Strada Wireless currently on the bike.

  6. Using Strava, with my Garmin 500 using GPS for climb data, I'm always within 100' or so of the data my friends get using the barometric feature. And if it's one of my club's published rides, it's usually within the same as the published climb data on the route map. The GPS is also very accurate with average speed. If I'm in a group, my average speed data doesn't vary much more than a couple of tenths from that of the riders using the ant. sensors.

However, if I use my iPhone app (and the android phone app before that), Strava is exceedingly "generous" with climbing data. I also noticed, on the mobile phone app, that if I looked at my route against a map, I'd be riding across lakes and parts of the ocean, as well as through the occasional church cemetery. With the Garmin, I'm always on the road.

  7. I charged the Cateye Stealth 50 up last night. I can't wait to return to the weird altitude date the various websites generate.

mpre53, the mapping functions appear to be accurate on all the websites. As long as remember to turn my unit OFF at the end of the ride! Otherwise the bike riding home in the car really ups my mileage and average speed.

The one really esoteric feature of the Stealth 50 is that immediately after the ride the ride data has to be deleted in order to save it...similar to using the windows 'Start' button to shut down the computer.

All my friends use STRAVA and when we're out on a training ride and the hammer goes down...you pretty much know you're on a STRAVA segment. A couple of the kiddies have apps on their phones that tell them where the segments are. Damn...do I feel like Luddite.

  8. Both apps are free, so I'm trying them both.

  9. I actually record my rides with the wahoo app and then just upload to strava from there I like the app layout better and can have it give me audio notification at different times such as when I am doing time or distance speed work it can notify me so I can just go balls to the wall for 5 minutes and rest 5 and it tells me in my ear rather than having to look down at the display while I am riding Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. Also the integrated music feature means less battery use when I want music Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
