Hi, My front 404 fiercest makes sort of a rustle that I mainly notice at low speeds (sounds like spokes but not sure) - any idea what causes it ?
Also had constant noises from the valve extender, which I think it occurs when I get on a bump in the road and the valve is there (at 18:00..) for now, I bought tubes with 80mm valves, though I'll be happy to learn how to use an extender without these noises (the valve thread where the extender is hooked to it, is pretty much at the height of the rim.. perhaps if the thread was lower, inside the rim, these noise could have been avoided.. ?
Wheel hum or rustle could be spoke tension or it could be the natural resonant noise the rolling wheel produces at 'X' speed. Your brake pads are clear of the rim? You could try taping up the spokes at the outer cross and apply a couple strips of Duck tape to the rim (off the brake track) just to see if it alters the accoustics.
You may also have to live with the noise. I've noticed a lot of carbon frame and wheels act like a sound chamber and amplify or re-direct sound.
Break pads do not touch (especially at the front wheel I keep the break quite ipen)
Will check the all things that you recommended.
I can live with the nose no problem - I only need to know that the wheel is alright mechanically..
By spoke tentsion do you mean under or over tension ?

Neither. Just the tension the wheel is built at coupled with the carbon sound box can generate a low rumble, whoosh or whatever sounds. It may just be the nature of the beast.
Ever listen to a carbon disc wheel? They are usually pretty noisy. Bigger sound box. More amplification.
