, Could this be the reason? I've checked it, and it is smooth. Could it be that my tires are worn (they cam with the bike in 08'😉. They have are squared all the way around. I ride on a bad route, (glass). Should I replace the tires? I'm tired of flatting every time I go out. I heard that Gatorskins were good. Should I just get those?

I looked at it, and It's electrical tape. The wheel is covered, but do you think my worn out tires could be contributing to my flats? The bike is a stock 2008' Trek 1.5, and has the stock Bontrager tires on it. They are worn, but should I replace them?

There is not rim tape on the entire wheel (by the stem). Could this be it?

Seriously, if your tires are worn thin and you ride over lots of glass and crappy roads...do yourself a blood pressure-saving favor and order a pair of Vredestein Fortezza Tri-Comps, Conti Gatorskins or such. Step up to a pair of heavy butyl tubes or thorn-proof tubes. Get a couple of new rim strips and go ride in peace.

I looked at my tire, and it has holes through out. I may just replace them, and get back to you on ride quality.

And you expect Trek to replace 5 year old rims because the rim tape went bad. .Velox rim tape costs about $5-$7 for enough to line one rim.
BTW, your tires wouldn't have one hole in them, if it was the rim tape causing your flats.
Either you're 13 years old, or you're a troll. Either way, do everyone (especially Trek) a favor and don't buy Trek. Get a Huffy.
