  1. Last Friday my Crank Brothers Candy 3 pedals came in the mail and Saturday I picked up my bike The Green Hornet from the shop (tuning up and cleaning). This snow and cold needs to go away now!!!!! This winter has comletely sucked. December and January were freaking cold and the last month has been a seasons worth of normal snow.

I am quitting my part time second job of 15 years in May and this summer is going to be devoted to the magnificent pursuit of golf and cycling. This is the first time in my adult life my weekends will be COMPLETELY FREE!!!!!

  2. Spring be on the way. It was 66°F in the armpit of the US, aka Ohio, yesterday. I do think it's perverse mentioning cycling and golf in the same post.

  3. What can I say I am flawed I love golf and cycling. I thought Detroit was the armpit? Maybe Detroit is the crotch and Ohio is the armpit. I will research that.

My God! You're in Dakron!!!! Dude, let's get together and ride! I'll introduce you to the whole chapter! Let's meet at the Summit County Bike & Hike trail at the Mexican joint on the West side of Route 8! What's it called...oh yeah, Tequila Pancho's! You can buy!

I can't believe they tossed you out of Arizona...oh wait. Yes, I can.

Mark, good luck with the golf and riding! It sounds like you've got a well deserved throttle-down in the work schedule coming! Enjoy it!

  5. Detroit isn't that bad as long as you ride fast enough thru it Lol Keep away from the roads named "mile" 7 mile, 8 mile, 9 mile and so on...... you might make it in and out alive. Oh and I dont think I'd stop at any stop signs or red lights you'd be lucky to make it out with your bike most bikes I've read about on this site cost more than most cars driven in that city. Yes I can pick on that city cause I live near that city and I won't go near it I live West of Detroit in a town called Jackson west of Ann Arbor south of Lansing and I too am itching to get out and ride

A perfect summation of Deetroilet! And don't forget, Kwame be back in jail, again!

Can we send you guys Cleeevtown, Toodleedo, Cinci, Y-Town, Dakron, Clombus and Stoopidville? We could make them all suburbs of 'troit and charge admission to tourists.

Meh...back to semi-winter today and training in 44° air with tons of road grit still left to be washed off the roads. At least the rain yesterday got most of the salt rinsed off the pavement.

  7. It's gonna be at least a week before I can even think about getting on my bike. Here in the Nanny State of Minnesota we are digging out of yet another snowfall... IN MID APRIL!!!!!!!! Even in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area we got 3-5 inches of snow yesterday and today. Words can't even begin to describe how sick and tired I am of snow and cold.

Thanks for the injection of politics into a thread with absolutely no political overtones. By "thanks" I mean the exact opposite.

  9. We must need a Nanny in this state because of all the babies - I have over 700 miles on the road since Jan, not a lot but a start to the year. Today looks to be rather decent to get some miles as well.

  10. I am almost there! I quit my second job of 15 years on the 25th and for the first time in my life I will have one 40hr job and my weekends completely free, I am so looking forward to getting on the bike Sunday and Monday of Memorial Day weekend knowing I am now a free man!!!! I have only got in 160 miles so far, but that is about to change. I will log a minimum of 120 miles a week through September. I also plan on doing the two day 150 mile MS Ride to the Cape from Boston to Provincetown on June 29-30. So close I can almost taste it.
