  1. there is a bubble in my new SUPERSIX carbon frame. this my second time ridding the bike since i bought it 2weeks ago. My SUPERSIX manual is telling me thats a sign of delimitation in the carbon and that i should not ride the bike. Has anyone with a carbon frame experience this with there bike? I am going to take the bike to my LBS tomorrow and let them check it out. I was kind of skeptical about getting a carbon frame. but since they say pound for pound carbon is stronger than steel and aluminum i say let me give it a try. But now i am thinking about having my LBS or CANNONDALE exchange my frame for a CAAD10 frame. a mean i[IMG]cyclingforums.com1000[/IMG]

    like not having to checking my frame every time i ride it. which is what i of to be doing with my SUPERSIX. Never had to check my JAMIS like this. the bike wasn't drop or crash, its been ridden on nothing but smooth pavement. So if anyone experience with there carbon bike please let me know thanks.

  3. Thank u responding, the rep from CANNONDALE and a guy that specialized in carbon frames inspected the bike today. And assured me that its not delimitation but its paint form where it was painted at the factory. Its very hard to see, but it is located on the head tube below the brake cable. And u have to rub your fingers across the bubble just to feel it. Also Its very hard to the touch. So they assured me that it was perfectly safe to ride and to ride it with confidence. So i brought the bike home today. Also the they where kind enough to give me a few pointers on what to look for and how to check carbon frames and fork. It was very informative learned a lot. I guest i didn't want to take any chances riding it until it was check out buy the dealer. But its all good now .

  5. Yea this is my first carbon frame so i guest i am a little paranoid. I did some nice 33mph descents today. Man this bike is fast and handing is incredible. some times it feels like i am on my GIXXER1000 in the corners. I wander how the EVO performs if this this thing rides like this. I am thinking about doing the exchange program that CANNONDALE offers some time in the future after i rack up some good miles on this frame. For a EVO frame. Any one on here ridding a EVO that would like to comment on its handling?

  6. I haven't ridden either bike but I'm sure the EVO handles very nicely too. Just remember you may be getting someone elses subjective input. Different wheels and or tires can also affect handling, sometimes considerably. I hope you enjoy your new bike, it's sweet. The grass is green on the other side for sure, it's also very green on the side you are currently on.

  8. Ok thanks for the reply, and yes u are right about the wheels and tires. I had KSYRIUM EQUIPE on my previous bike JAMIS VEN SPORT. and they rolled pretty nice. The day i bought my SUPER SIX, one of the guys that work at the dealer heard me inquiring about some KSYRIUM ELITE. walk up to me and said, he has a brand new set of KSYRIUM ELITE that a customer change out for some ZIPP 404s still in box. That he will let me have for $400 cash. So i told him to let me see them he went in the back came back out with the wheels in the box. Man one look at these wheels unbelievable it even had the manual and everything. i didn't have cash on me, so i went across the road to the ATM and got the money. they took the r500 that came on my bike and swap them out. man these wheel spins up so fast a mean they just like to be ridden fast. And about the EVO it will be a while before i do an exchange on my frame i think i will enjoy this one for awhile before i make the move to the EVO. How ever i will upgrade the components on my bike to FORCE components with maybe HOLLOW GRAM crankset or FORCE OR RED don't know what crankset yet. Still deciding what crank to go with, maybe the one i get the best deal on. The bike came with APEX, And also i like the color contrast of the FORCE components it would go well on my bike.     and the shifters are on there way.

    While they may be aero-challenged wheels (there is a reason HED, Zipp, and Rolph use the Mavic Elites to test against as their baseline), anyone who has ridden the newer version Elites with the milling between the spokes knows you speak the truth. They may not excel in the windtunnel but they do feel like they spin up very fast. Also in my personal experience, they are also stiff enough to bomb 50mph+ decents. $400 is an excellent price. These are not yer granpappy's Mavics!

  10. Alas, the physics says that the difference in wheel acceleration between wheels with small moments of inertia and wheels with large moments of inertia is very small. What does make the wheels spin up noticeably faster is a stronger engine.

  11. I totally agree about the stiffness of these wheels. My EQUIPE would flex and rub the brake pads when sprinting out the saddle. And these ELITES don't do that, i have no flexing or rubbing on the brake pads with these. They are stiff and fast, i love these wheels. The mechanic at the dealer lick the wheels after putting them on my bike, no joke. And he said to me i will never ride another set of wheels, after i experience my first ride on the ELITES. And so far i think he is right. the only other wheel set i see that i would try is the ZIPP 404's and i cant see dropping $2000 on a set of wheels. When these ELITES perform the way they do. I am a believer in these wheels, they seem to be strong as well. I hit a few bumps on the roads and unexpected potholes. And they are still true as the day they came out the box.

  12. Yea but lighter wheel will spin up faster right? take for example my GIXXER1000 with 170hp at 370lbs with a full tank of fuel. And my 2001 AUDI S4 400hp at 3600lbs my GIXXER ET is 9.2 sec in the 1/4 mi. my S4 in the 1/4mi 12.1sec so power to weight ratio. The GIXXER wins every time. So i think this theory would go for the ELITES right? been light has the ELITES are would make them spin up faster right? even if the rider is not every strong.

    They won't spin up like you think. At the following link a gent uses a very good mathematical model of a bicycle to analyze the effects of moment of inertia, and the accelerations seen--evidenced in speed fluctuation--are very small between wheels with wildly different moments of inertia. Note that he used an ideal formula for moment of inertia which calculates moment of inertia to be higher than it could be in real life. He does this because it simplifies the equation and allows him to substitute rotating weight for rotational calculations. Again, using the ideal MOI formula as he did produces larger speed fluctuations than would be seen in real life. As I stated he uses wildly different rotating weights: one of 0kg, one of 5kg, and one of 10kg. For those playing at home in a non-metric environment, those rotating weights would be 0lbs, 11lbs, and 22lbs.
