  1. Today, I've finished a 10-day stage race/audax with a total mileage of 0. It has not been easy but I should mention the combined effects of a flu, rain, work and kids - without which this amazing achievement would not have been possible.

According to Mike Sinyard, Specialized bikes are designed to look fast even while standing still - and each time I would pass my Roubaix on the way to the washing machine, it would look more and more like a rocket. At the same time, my daily stretches would increasingly resemble the rituals of a cargo cult. Meanwhile, the only thing keeping my expanding stomach from looking like a pumpkin was the color.

Finally, the ordeal came to an end today. Exhausted but optimistic, I'm looking forward to a long 'recovery'.
