A Hybrid frame does NOT have to "live" with the Flat handlebar and/or MTB components which it is sold with ...
- the bike is pictured with a Kelly CX fork, but with a different front fork, the bike will accommodate 700x52 (29er) tires -- potentially, a good thing for fire roads, etc.
- with fenders + racks it can be used for touring OR commuting
- with appropriate gearing, a Hybrid with similar setup could probably be used for CX events (i.e., 'I' would use the nose of the saddle to shoulder the bike instead of the top tube)
- a Road fork would tighten up the front geometry for more nimble road riding
- et cetera
