  1. Got a new brooks saddle and tried to put it on my 80's Guerciotti. The rails seem too small. Used a
caliper to determine that they're 1mm smaller in diameter than my old saddle.

Anyone experienced this problem? Any solution?

Thanks in advance for any help someone might offer.

Do the rails slide when tightened in the seat post clamp? If not, there's no problem. If they do
slide, you can put a piece of rubber from an old inner tube between the rails and the seat post. I
have that problem with my Flite saddle. It seemed snug at first, but during a ride, the saddle would
drift back a bit. The rubber shims cured the problem.

I've got a Brooks B-17 on my late '80's 'Gurch', no problems. Maybe a new seat post?

I'm using B17's on Ritchey, CLB, Thomson and Easton seat posts with no problems.

    Difficult to say.

For starts, which is 7mm diameter, the new or the old? Standard seatpost tops assume 7mm rails.

  6. The brooks seat has 7mm rails.

The seat I'm replacing is a modern Bontrager gel seat with 7.2 mm rails (approximately).

The new Brooks Professional (honey with copper rails) actually rattled after I tightened it to a SR
Laprade seatpost. Was going to try putting a rubber shim in as suggested, but found a Dura Ace
    seatpost that's actually lighter.

The Brooks saddle snugs down nicely in the Dura Ace seatpost.

Thanks for all the advice. This is a great usegroup.

  7. I have Brooks pro's on American Classic, Kalloy and Thomson posts with no problems. AL

That's the exact seat post I had trouble using with the Flite, although it had worked fine with
    several other saddles.
