Hi, I have a bought a second hand racing bike off ebay and it has worked well, accept for one problem. When I go down a long hill near me, I have had two large blowouts near the bottom of the hill. I am only inflating the tire to 85 psi (which is the limit maximum). This may be the problem, however on the 6 mile each way return journey the tire has burst within 50 yards, both time the front tire. No visible marks can be seen on the outside of the tire.
Before buying a new inner tube, I was wondering if it is due to cheap inner tubes, or over-inflation?
The tire stayed on the rim, but went from 85 psi to flat within 2 seconds. I have took it in and The mechanic suggested it might be a small tear in the tire wall ( only about 1 mm, i hadn't though it would matter as it was close to rim. Anyway, ive got a new tire and innertube now so hopefully will work okay. Will be trying this weekend!
Just to let you know, ive ridden down the hill twice now with new tyres without a problem, so hopefully its sorted!. Its surprising how much a tiny hole in wall of tyre can make!
You dont need holes in tyres ! You can stick a patch on the inside to get you by.
