  1. Hello all,

Does anyone know how to service these hubs. I can't seem to find a way to open open them and service the bearings.

    Thanks in advance

  2. The axle ends are probably PRESS FIT into the hubs ...

A special tool may be required to remove them.

The hub's cartridge bearings are not meant to be serviced -- if the bearings need to be serviced then you should probably bring them to the LBS of your choice (call around -- not all shops are equal in how well they perform 'routine' services) to have them replaced.

  3. To be honest I don't know if they need to be replaced, I just noticed a bit of play on the front wheel and I would like to have a look. Either it's the bearings or the hub needs to be tightened. Right?

  4. I can't remember if Bontrager front hubs have an adjustment to take out play. It's a cartridge bearing hub. What year are the wheels? What model?

Your simplest action could be just to go to a local Trek dealer and ask them about it.

  5. I think I'll just do that. Thank you for your answers.
