  1. I'm thinking of purchasing some rollers. Anyone have good experience with them and are they worth it? I'd use them to keep fit during winter/rainy seasons but I'm worried that hopping on them would just get so boring after awhile. Keep in mind, I've never been on any before, either. Anyone recommend picking them up? Worth it? Hard to learn?

  2. I have been using the e-Motion rollers, but as rollers go they are probably the most expensive. Yet when I was considering and checking every source out on the web I did not see one bad comment except for the price.

Here are my thoughts thecyclingaddiction.blogspot.come motion rollers.html

I had absolutely zero experience with rollers before using and was able to start very quickly. These rollers do have side bumper rollers that keep the bike from going off the edge and it has 3 resistance settings. I have yet to bump up the resistance and find the first setting to be plenty for me. It did take me a few more weeks of using before I could really get my effort up to riding at level. I cannot speak for the typical rollers on the market for use or how difficult it is to learn.

Overall I am very pleased with the purchase.

However, I am also using my KK fluid trainer just as much for indoor training.
I use the KK trainer for 20 minute intervals at a higher intensity because I do not have to concentrate on balancing.
I use the rollers on 60 + minute sessions because the rollers are more comfortable.

Indoors can be a struggle mentally no matter what you purchase so I do not think the mental aspect is helped by the equipment. It is up to you to have a perspective for indoor training and the great results that can be had that will keep it exciting.

For instance on Tuesday I had a really great indoor training session with some very solid sustained L4 efforts.

  3. yes they are worth it, it is the kind of equipment that needs to be set and ready around the house for you to use it spontaneously, for planned training, or to replace outdoor training for any reason (bad weather, short of time, night time, etc)
