I have a bad rear hub and don't want to spend a lot of money on my bike. Should I replace the rear hub or buy a cheap wheelset($100)? When looking for a hub what should I look for? I have an 18 spd. Are my rims decent rims?

If I am not mistaken you just bought this bike a few months back. If so you should bring it back to the LBS for a warranty repair.

I bought the bike used and they guy said its not under warranty.

What is actually wrong with the hub? It may be that a freewheel service or repair is all you need.
If it comes down to it, replacment of the whole wheel seems a better option. The spoke pattern is not regular so will require a lot of extra work for whoever relaces it with a new hub.
Bear in mind also that a $100 wheelset is not likely to be the end of your troubles. You are much better off spending a little cash on some decent components.

May be worth looking into the price is right and it is speced for 8, 9 and 10 speed drive trains.
