Hi,
I'm getting into cycling and am considering cycling shorts. I've been wearing some running shorts I have (with underwear) and having done a couple of 2-2.5hr rides it feels comfortable; I guess I got lucky with my saddle (a Bontrager H1).
However they're a bit flared on the bottom which I guess shaves .0001mph and the color isn't great. Also I'm curious:
1. I've noticed the more expensive a saddle is, the firmer it is. So why go to a hard saddle only to add padding in the shorts? All the shorts I've seen on the web are padded.
2. How does one try it out, given the no-underwear business? Also, since discomfort may only show up after some time riding, do you borrow a pair from the shop for a while? Or is it a long-ish trial-and-error process?
3. Most of the ones I've seen for sale are black, but people do wear matching jerseys/shorts - where do those come from?
Thanks!
