  1. I'm trying to install Speedplay cleats. I thought I had them done correctly but now that i'm trying it I can't get either pedal to engage the cleat? What the heck did I do wrong? Can anyone help. Thanks.

  2. Speedplay cleats require the correct shims underneath to provide a flat mounting surface before tightening the screws. The cleats come with several sets of shims for use with various shoes. The instructions contain info on shoe/shim compatibility. If you can't get a flat base with the included shims, your shoes may not be compatible.

Overtightening the cleat screws could also cause binding. The four cleat screws come treated with locktite to stop them from coming loose so they don't need to be too tight. Snug them down, but don't twist too hard on the phillips screwdriver.

Oh, one obvious point.......make sure you're putting the left/right cleat on the matching shoe.
