I am looking to get a road specific cycling shoe (to replace my terrible terrible old mtb shoes). Obviously, a proper fit is my number one priority and I would love to break the bank with a nice pair of Sidi shoes but that is out of the budget. In terms of brands what do you think is the next best thing?

I've been using a pair of Shimano R130 road shoes for several years and I really like them for whatever that's worth....

try on 3 or 4 different shoes . I have noticed that the higher the cost does'nt always bring the most comfort and performance . If you are not comfortable , than it will be hard to perform to your level . Gotta find a pair that works for you in both dept's . Muy Impotante ! My 250$ shoes are collecting dust while my 100$ shoes are doing all the work . Wish I could say it was the other way around . -
DMT just the best and top of the line!!!

I love my scott road pro carbon shoes!

I have had good luck with Look and Time shoes over the years. Most recently I tried Luis Garneau Mount Royale and these have become my favorite. They can be found for around 75.00.

Its all about fit. Sidis just happen to fit me perfectly but I suppose if I kept looking I would find others.
