Buy the one that fits best, rides best, and most appeals to you. How it works for someone else really doesn't matter.

... and take a look to see if either has a crash replacement warranty of any description for when your plastic fantastic ends up being not so fantastic after a violent meeting with the ground.

The Speedster S30 is similarly equipped, a little lighter, and some prefer its ride to the 1.5. On the other hand, Trek has that limited lifetime warranty on its frames, while Scott's is only five years. On the other hand, I've never seen a failure due to normal use in either of these frames.

Scotts generally fit a little larger than corresponding Treks due to a steeper seat tube angle, a slightly higher bottom bracket, and longer handlebar stems. If a Scott fits, consider it.
