Started riding with a powermeter recently. Did a part of the time crunched training plan by carmichael. I am relatively out of shape, here are my current numbers. I did not try any maximum efforts at each time lengths. But I did manage a full out sprint seems to be low at 850 watts or so. My 20 min is about 194 and that was a couple of weeks ago. I feel that I could probably break 200 now, since I've done a couple of 2x10's. The 1 min, 2 min, 3 min efforts are just what I have in the computer from riding.
These are the peak power values from my poweragent software.
5 sec 850
30 sec 513
1 min 354
2 min 268
3 min 257
4 min 225
5 min 215
10 min 210
20 min 194
I'm 29, male, weigh 145 pounds. I would love to race this time next year. I can probably squeeze in about 8 hours a week of training. Most of it will be early morning or late evening 1 hour trainer rides. And longer weekend rides.
What are reasonable goals in raising my FTP?
What FTP will I need to be competitive, 250,300?
Are there ways to get my sprint up into the 1000+ range?
When riding in groups, I tend to excel at climbing, can I train to become better at crits?
My main goal is to race and be competitive by the time race season hits next year.
Thanks for any input.
