Go to your LBS and test ride some bikes. The one for you will be the one that fits the best and that you are most comfortable on (and is in your price range).
Avoiding test riding bikes that are too far out of your price range in case you end up falling in love!!!

Buy a properly fitted bike with the best components that you can afford!
Be certain to shop around and test ride several before making the final decision.
