  1. Hi All

I lurk this newsgroup and always find useful information.

Firstly, is there anyone who joined WW and when reached their goal weight stopped with their weekly
meetings? I have been away from my usual meetings and still carry on with the principles (and
book!). Would be interesting to know your replies.

Secondly, what is the points for a poached egg? In our book(South African) eggs are usually
1,5 points but my theory is that poached is very healthy, so what would the exact point for
    poached eggs be??

    Thank you.

    Maria

  2. I don't know the answers to either of your questions but welcome to the
    group, Lee

  3. Welcome aboard, Maria. As for your egg question. If a whole egg is 1.5 points then it would have
that number of points if hard boiled, poached, scambled, etc. The points formula is based on
calories, fat grams and fiber grams (US plan) not how how it was prepared.

  4. As Laura noted, an egg is an egg as long as you did not add anything to fry or scramble it. In the
    US it is 2 points.

I have reached goal - July, 03 and still continue with meetings. I may be afraid to let go. I have
missed some for vacations and only have to WI once per month.

    Welcome

  5. I reached Goal over 2 years ago. I kept going to meetings every week for w hile, then down to about
1 time a month or so. Then we left the country, so I had to stop. Now I carry on by myself, even
though we're back. Although it's not working real well for me at the moment - that's not because I'm
not following the rules. I really don't think my leader would be able to help as I fall outside of
her usual client type - younger, with way more excercise....... I'll go back, to WI officially, when
I'm not going to be embarassed by what the scales say. And it would cost me now anyway........

  8. Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

I will leave the egg thing as 1.5 points. Makes sense. It's just that sometimes I think that because
the cooking method is lower in fat then your points should be lower...

  9. You think your leader does not relate to you. We guys have it similar and then being active and
obese and they really wonder!!!! Yes, trying to convince my leader that I really do get 13 points on
one or two weekend days was a trip.

    Maria

Eggs have no fiber, so to get their points, you'd take calories/50 + fat/12. Eggs vary dramatically
depending on their size. For a small boiled or poached egg (cooked without any fat added), the
    points would be
1.5. Medium is 1.7 points, large is 2, extra large is 2.3, and jumbo is
2.6 points. It all depends on the size of the eggs you're using.

Here are the numbers I am using according to fitday.com: Small - 57 calories, 4 grams fat Medium -
    68 calories, 4.65 grams fat Large - 77 calories, 5.3 grams fat Extra large - 90 calories, 6.1 grams
fat Jumbo - 100 calories, 5.9 grams fat
