Training on expensive carbon wheels is pretty insane in my opinion. They are fantastic on race day but for everyday practicality get something that you will not have to worry about. A solid training wheel like a Mavic Open Pro paired with a solid hub can be built pretty light and will NEVER let you down. It's not sexy or flashy but if you're just out for riding without worrying about trashing an expensive set of wheels. You'll never get stranded if you break a spoke, like can happen on a carbon wheelset, you'll never have braking problems in the wet like with carbons and you'll never have to worry about a rock gouging the rim etc. Hope this helps.

I'm pretty new to this whole thing but i agree with the above post and would just like to add...why worry about having lighter wheels for training? Get the carbons for race day and get that extra edge for the day as compared to the normal heavier wheels you have been training on. The best of both worlds! 😄

I just bought a set to compliment my Easton EA-90's (another great wheel, but does have spoke issues). Did my fastest solo ride ever on Friday with my new ROLS (20.6 average for approx 20 miles) then did a 50 mile group ride at 21.1 mph average the next day. THESE WHEELS ARE THE TICKET! My average speed went up nicely, they are plenty light, climb well, and really "eat" the wind. Best $$ I have spent and much better than Mavic Ksyrium. Yes, I said that. I don't work for these guys, I don't get anything for endorsing these wheels. They are one of the best kept secrets out there. A solid every day wheel, that is plenty fast for whatever you have in mind. Get 'em, enjoy 'em, thank me later🙂

The reality of performance benefits of wheels is that the BEST aero wheels will gain you an additional ~0.4 mph when you're going 25 mph. The reality is that wheels don't make a huge impact on speed performance.
