  1. Hi folks,

Well, the excercise and gym regime continue.......and again, I've been trying to eat more points.
For the last couple of weeks I've been averaging 126 points a week - earning 40+ points and eating
enough of them to have about 17 left over. (it was 116 and 25 or 30 leftover)

Last week I maintained, which I was hoping was a sign I'd turned a corner and would soon start
losing again. It was not to be. Once I could finally get my scale to agree with itself today - I
appear to have put on 1lb.

I'm feeling good as a result of the gym, and I think my shape has changed a bit - my waist is
smaller but my thighs are bigger. Oh, and now that I'm eating a bit more, my brain seems to be
working again - I'm not so dopey. So maybe it's not too bad.

Actually, who am I kidding? I'm terrified! I was putting on weight slowly - maybe by not eating
enough, and to change to eat more was a huge wrench for me. This is precisely what I was worried
would happen - I'd put on yet more weight. It doesn't seem to matter what I do.......those figures
keep going up. I mean honestly, what does a girl have to do to lose weight around here? I'm at a
    loss.........

  2. Don't get too upset yet, Krys. Your weight might go up a tiny bit over the first few weeks of making
the change, while your body does some more adjusting and getting used to the idea that it isn't
starving anymore. What are you doing to earn 40 AP's in a week? I feel like I'm working my butt off
when I pull 4 points a day ... yet that only comes out to 28/week. You must be spending quite some
time each day working out (I get tired just thinking about it). LOL

  3. I'd give your new regime at least another couple of weeks before you make any judgements. It takes
the body a while to readjust itself, so give things a chance to settle down. Feeling good within
yourself is more than enough reason to keep it up.

Journal EVERYTHING you eat, and ALL your exercise, and book some time to talk to your WW leader. Let
them see exactly what you are doing, as there may be something in there that you have missed. You
may be doing something as simple as allowing too few points for a particular food, or too many for a
particular exercise. You may need to up the protein points (brain food!) rather than carbs...

  5. Don't get discouraged. Keep at it and it'll eventually come off. Perhaps your body needs a couple
weeks to adjust to the extra calories. It may take that long for it to boost your metabolism? I
don't know, I'm just saying maybe...

  6. You really do need to check measurements - if you are losing inches, you are probably losing fat.
And frankly, I have seen heavy people with thin legs/thighs so you might be developing more muscle.
I have friends who have very large BICYCLING thighs (G)

  8. Sorry for your frustrations, krys! Only thing I can think of is maybe the overload of working out is
causing your muscles to gain and retain water... all that technical stuff. Give your body time to
get used to eating the new points and everything, I'm sure you'll see a loss soon if you keep at it.

  10. Well, I excercise at least 6 days a week - sometimes 7. I alternate between the gym - which is a
c.1 1/4hr session including all the usual machines and weights, and on the other days I swim 1500m
    - which takes me about 45 minutes. I reckon on 6 points a session for each. I also attend a yoga
class once a week (which I reckon is about 3 points), and practice yoga at home in the evenings
(which I don't count as I've been doing it for ages). Then every now and then I get a decent walk
    in as well.....

So, you can see how the points can add up. In fact, I've just this minute got back from today's gym
    session......

I'm trying not to get too upset, but it sure ain't easy when the scales go up, and your clothes

  15. Yes, give it another couple of weeks. At least 5-6 in total. Take your measurements too. While you
might not see any scale movement you'll see the inches come off. I'm going through the same thing.
Very little scale loss but plenty of inches have come off in the past 2 months since I joined
curves. And judging from the amount of AP you are earning you definitely were not eating enough. I
know it is a tricky thing but many of us are in the same boat. The key is to eat your minimum number
of points plus all of your AP. For each AP you burn 100 calories but are allowed to eat 50 cal. This
is one reason why it is important for you to eat all of your points. Don't forget to recalcuate the
number of AP you earn as you lose weight and don't over estimate the number of points you earn.

  16. You might want to look at calculating your activity points again. The less you weigh, the less
activity points you get for doing the same exercise. It sucks, but that's how it works. I put your
numbers into my spreadsheet activity point calculator and came out with 3.5 for the machines and
weights sessions (based on that being a moderate activity and not high impact) and then 6.7 for the
swimming (which I consider high) and 2.7 for the yoga (which I considered light). BUT, I didn't know
if your weight was in U.S. lbs or not, so that might not be right.

    Anyways...just a suggestion!

  17. AP calcs may be a bit off, but not far enough to make up for the difference in points that you
aren't eating. I use www.caloriesperhour.com to get a better calculation of how many ap's I'm
earning .. it bases it on age, height and weight, which I think is more of a true indicator as to
what our bodies are burning. Even *guessing* at your height and weight, the calories burned came out
pretty dang close to what you are accounting for - I'm gonna stick with the *give it a few more
    weeks* answer. <G>

Any possibility that you may be pushing yourself too hard in the workout routine/schedule? Muscles
will retain water as they rebuild and repair (so I've heard anyway). I'm also a firm believer in
using clothing and measurements as a better indicator of what is truly going on. I know we all live
by the *number* ... I do to .. BUT, clothing doesn't lie. If your clothes are feeling loser, then
you know you are doing something right. I've only started exercising in the past few months, the
weight has really slowed immensely in dropping - yet my pants have reduced a size.

I sure can understand your frustration and confusion. I'll bet something will give soon.

I'm trying not to get too upset, but it sure ain't easy when the scales go up, and your clothes
aren't fitting the same any more......

  18. Well, I'm just going on the way WW in the UK did points when I was attending meetings regularly.
Swimming is 2 pts for 15 minutes - hence my figure of
    6. It doesn't really give you a figure for gym stuff - that's approximate (based on rowing machine
points, stepping points, that kind of thing). However, if you look at the calories burned on the
machines, and add it all up, 6 points seemed ok. The yoga is 1 pt for 15 minutes - I count it as
3 for an hour session. Bonus Points here (though they may have changed) didn't take body weight
    into account.

I figure even if the program has changed - the way I do it worked before, and should work
    again......

And even if I'm not estimating quite right - I'm also not eating all the points earnt, by a chunk,
which you would have thought would cover that eventuality......

Thanks for the suggestion though 🙂

sucks, but that's how it works. I put your numbers into my spreadsheet activity point calculator
and came out with 3.5 for the machines and

    weights

    Quoted message said:

sessions (based on that being a moderate activity and not high impact) and then 6.7 for the
swimming (which I consider high) and 2.7 for the yoga (which I considered light). BUT, I didn't
know if your weight was in U.S. lbs or not, so that might not be right.

    Anyways...just a suggestion!
