Just curious about best way to bring the Iphone on a ride (just bought one). Read there are issues with sweat transfer in armbands and moisture transfer and heat build-up when in jersey pockets.
Use Ziplock bags? It's been really hot and my jersey is totally dripping wet when I get home and don't want to ruin my new phone...
Thanks!

I have a small frame corner mount zipper pouch that fits my iPhone and keys, it isn't invasive at all.

I use a iphone mount made for the iphone4. It works great. Decided to move it from the stem to handlebar to avoid dripping sweat, but other than that I really like it. Wish it had a cover in case of rain but so far have been able to avoid getting caught in a soaker. If bad weather is coming I usually grab a sandwich sized ziplock for the phone. The GPS MotionX App works great too. Doesn't eat the battery like some Apps. Can handle tracking a 50 to 60 mile ride with battery to spare.
Got the iphone mount at Erik's. See link

I use a mount made by RocketFish...

i just put it a small plastic bag (like a sandwich bag) and keep it in my back jersey pocket , dont think i could handle having it on the handlebars

The phone looks ridiculous mounted on the bars, are people really using these things instead of a cycle computer?

I'm sorry, but thinking a massive phone can replace a small bicycle computer is stupid.

I use my iPhone 4 in addition to a cycle computer. Both have features that you can't get independently. I like the GPS tracking I get with the phone (along with the emergency call ability), and the cycle computer pretty much gets left on its cadence mode. If there were a Bluetooth device for attaching to the bike for cadence and speed (and I suppose power for an expensive upgrade) that would talk to my iPhone, I'd dump the cycle computer.
I ride for touring enjoyment, but at a pace that has some challenge to it. I don't race, so I don't care about weight too much.

weight is an important issue for sure.
-
Cripes - some of the isheep can't even go riding for a couple of hours without having their phone available and visible at all times.
Just put it in a baggy and carry it in a jersey pocket if you have separation anxiety.
