  1. OK, so I been wanting cake for a few days. Told DH I HAD to have cake when we got home from work.
While I was changing clothes he gave me the bad news, there were NO cake mixes, sooooo

There was a brownie mix that called for 2 eggs and a half cup of oil and a quarter cup of water, we
had the eggs and they needed to be used up, but I was going to substitute applesauce for the oil, DH
gets the apple sauce and says NOPE, its gone moldy, so now I'm getting desperate, so I say use the
rest of the canned pears and just smash them up, and while you're at it substitute a half cup of
yogurt for the water, and so we did and it baked, and it was 3 points and it was good, Lee

  2. Amazing what you can do when you have to isn't it? *grin*

  3. Hi Lee,

I've been making cakes lately by substituting fat free pudding (either chocolate or vanilla) instead
of the oil. It makes a DELICIOUS cake.

My wife loves applesauce and I hate it. We got tired of finding jars of moldy applesauce in the
fridge, so now we buy the individual serving cups. They're more expensive, until you take into
account how expensive it is to throw away 3/4 full jars of moldy applesauce.

Haven't seen moldy applesauce in years now, and since they come in convenient 1/2 cup measures,
they're perfect for baking as an oil substitute.

  5. and it made 18 servings, split it between 2 9 by9 pans and I only ate one,
    thin but tasty, Lee

I have one recipe that I make using low fat sour cream. It's gorgeous, definitely my favourite cake.

  8. I usually get it eaten but here lately we have been running so hard I am not
even sure what is in the frige at this moment. Those individual cups are a
lifesaver to put in lunches though, Lee
