I have an 07 Specialized Roubaix and whenever i ride over 10 miles my rear end really starts hurting. I always chalked this up to me not riding long enough to get used to teh pain. however, this year i'm riding more frequently and the pain is not going away. How do you know if you should look into getting a new saddle that may be more comfortable or is something else wrong? I'm a bigger guy(6'1 220 pounds). Should I still be in pain after riding for over 3 years or do I just need a new saddle?

I would suggest that if your saddle is not comfortable start looking for a replacement. Everyone is different so there is no saddle that is good for all. Go to your LBS and speak with them. They may allow you to try a few to find one that is right. Good luck.

Hmm. It'd be easy enough to find a more comfortable position. Any chance that you have an incorrect seat height, seat angle, etc?
If a new saddle could be a possible remedy. Hit up a decent bike shop that allows you to demo saddles. Saddles are so personal and unique. What works perfectly for some may be very wrong for others. I currently have 7 saddles. Some of which are definitely not the best fit...but I tried. Just got a new one today that I'll mount later and test. Others 'used' to be comfortable but either wore out or something!?

It't time for a new saddle. Find one that is wide enough to accommodate your sit bones, the things that should be bearing your weight in the saddle.

See if there's a Specialized body geometry dealer near you - goto the specialized website to find out.
They have a doohickey to figure out how wide your sit-bones are and most bg dealers have demo saddles to try.
If you don't like one of their saddles after all that at least you have some idea whether you need a narrow or wide saddle.
