late last year i picked up a 2010 Trek 2.3 and have really fallen in love with the bike. after purchasing a new Specialized saddle and finding a good shoe/pedal combination, i am only encountering one problem. i've started getting numb in the wrist/hands while riding and was wondering if the stem on the bike could change this. the bike came with a 100mm 7º stem which has me extended pretty far. When i had the bike fitted, everything seemed to be ok and the only uncomfortableness i had was with the stk seat which is horible. Now that i've got a good saddle i'm curious as if anyone has a suggestion to a stem i might use... I think a higher rise might help me but a sales guy at the local bike shop suggested a 20mm shorter stem with less rise. Anyone know if this might be a good solution?

Do you change hand positions as you ride OR are you always holding onto the handlebars in the same place?
It could simply be the width of the handlbars ... either too wide OR too narrow.
Post a picture which shows how your bike's setup looks.

I definitely change positions as i ride. Numb whether i'm on the hoods or in drop... when on the flats definitely not much of an issue but by the time i'm riding on them i'm already suffering from numb hands.

Numb hands... wrist angle too closed (ANGLE SHOULD BE LIKE A HAND SHAKE) or Too much weight on your hands? (saddle too far forward or bars too far from saddle or too much saddle to bar drop)
I'd try adjusting your wrist angle first, then try reducing the weight carried on your hands. Most of your weight should be carried by your feet, saddle and abs.
