he could be... but not the cyclist he was before !
his results so far this year have not been promising enough,
i also think that he's having all the bad luck from which he was spare during his 7 tours de france run

I dont think he will be up there in this years tdf, however I dont think it will be all Contador either......there are a list of 5-10 who can probably win it

Guessing who's going to win the TDF is a lucky guess, I didn't think Lance was going to win it the 7th time. But to say that Contador is not going to even be in the top 5 or 10 is pretty bold statement...not saying your wrong, I just disagree. He has won 3 grand tours of racing something Lance NEVER did! Not to mention 2 TDF's. He's also the best climber and stage racer in the world currently, and has been working on his time trials to the point of winning several. This year has been pretty good for him, he won the Volta ao Algarve, won his second Paris Nice race...Lance never won any of those races. As an all around racer he's better then Lance and he's still young, so I think he has the best shot at winning the TDF a 3rd time IF his team is good enough and IF he doesn't get busted for doping.

As far as Lance is concerned...he needs to quit on a high note before he looks like a practice dummy. I hope he reads this, maybe it will make him so mad he'll win it!!

I don't think Contador has peaked as yet. This could be his best year ever or maybe next year.He hasn't started his decline yet.

A wonderful record for a doper

contador has to be the odds on favorite for this year. his season has gone perfectly so far. he has shown no reason to believe that he wont dominate like last year.

the schleks on the other hand have not done as well as one might expect.

we havent seen enough of menchov to get much confirmation.

evans has rode extremely well this year, and will probably podium, but i think contador looks better at this moment in time.

armstrong wont factor in. hes had a really rough build up to the tour.

the others, sastre, basso, valverde, vino, etc. they are all riding strongly, but i doubt they will be able to touch contador. for as well as basso is riding right now, contador will smoke him in the tt's and at least match him in the mountains.

I admire him but i do reckon the possibility of doping by him (like every other cyclist in the peloton). If that comes to surface he will look rather funny after his continous and vehement press releases on that subject.

I mean, Indurain never talks on that subject, when racing or in retirement.

Contador went for hand surgery on April, and why he missed out the Tour of California..

He had severe tendon damage on his thumb and index finger from "shooting" 200-300 times a day... even shooting at the mirror for 1 hour.

Landis's mention of Kristin Armstrong, who was divorced from Lance in 2004, raises the possibility that the feds will question her. But Kristin told SI in a text message, "I have not been contacted, nor am I in communication with Floyd or anyone else." As for Landis's claim that he received EPO in her presence, Kristin wrote, "I don't remember that."

• Second, who supplied the USPS team with doping supplies and illicit drugs, and how were those items transported and distributed? If such evidence is uncovered by the feds, Armstrong, as the de facto team boss, might run afoul of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), a somewhat fungible federal statute used by prosecutors to go after a broad range of crimes possibly, in this case, drug trafficking. Under RICO, the government usually must show that a defendant partook in an underlying illegal activity and engaged in a continuous and controlled pattern of organizing others to engage in that activity.

You just lost your argument with that statement! You, like a lot of people today take things out of context. The French do hate him, and that's why they went out of their way to find dope in his system and they FAILED EVERY TIME!

Why would it matter if the lab is corrupt? The lab is run by the French, therefore if the French wanted to skew the results to find Lance guilty of doping they would have done it, but they didn't because they couldn't.

Lie to protect himself...name one person, besides Jesus, that never lied to protect themselves. Just because a person lies doesn't mean they lie about everything, if that's true you and I would lie all time about anything and everything. But Lance may lie but he's not lying about the dope(?)

He may be lying...but all tests have proven him innocent, and if he hid some way then why did they find Landis who claims Lance taught him, but couldn't find it in Lance? Why would Lance voluntarily allow the lab to keep frozen samples of his blood to be tested at any time in the future should technology improve to find hidden doping? Why is Lance not a better rider if he's doping, he's only famous for the tour all the other races he never wins; Merckx won all the prestigious titles and he admitted to doping, thus Lance if he were doping would be winning all those too.

That makes sense, Novitzky isn't targeting Armstrong, he's gonna go after the French conspiracy.

After all those 6 EPO positives from '99 tour samples was clearly a French conspiracy because after all the race and the testing lab was in... France!

And those Andreu folks who testified against him well dang their name even sounds French, wait a minute that Lemond dude his name sounds French too!

And if Lance has doped then Novitzky will do very intensive testing on the very blood Lance voluntarily allowed the French lab to store for future testing. Seems like Lance is trying to find someone who will find him guilty...right.

Who's to say that the riders back then wouldn't have used present day PEDs/doping methods if these drugs and methods were available when they raced? He [Merckx] did test positive for a stimulant that is still a banned substance today.

I never denied that. The question seems to be though that others here think Lance is the best, but he could have only won those tours by doping. I laugh at that because if he "was" the best and he "was" doping then he would be the best in more races then just the tour.
