Hi all. I am a very casual rider. I have a hybrid Trek 7.3FX that I run the backroads w/ pretty light rolling hills. My rides are between 15-30 miles at 14-15 MPH. My short term goal is 15 miles at 16-17 MPH and work up to 30 miles at that speed with the occasional longer ride. My riding is for recreation/fitness only, I dont plan on taking it any further.
I would like to get into some clipless shoes/pedals. I was thinking about the SPD A530 pedals w/ the platform since I may occasionally use my hybrid for some lighter riding. For shoes, I was thinking about the shimano R076 or R086. These are compatible with SPD and SPD-SL cleats. I will of course need to try them on and look around some more.
Does this setup sound like it would fit my riding profile? Would SPD-SL pedals make more sense? Also, how hard is it to set up a clipless system? Is it something I can do myself or should I have a shop do it.
Thanks.
