  1. After yesterday's lame dinner, I buckled down and cooked a bit better tonight.

    a) Potato gnocchi (made with potato flakes b/c it's easier that way, it uses up the flakes that Matt
loves, and doesn't seem to affect the final product). I added a few cloves of minced garlic and
    dried basil to the dough.

    Recipe at: italianfood.about.comnr0558.htm

    b) Tomato sauce with Canadian bacon. To one can of diced tomatoes, add 1 medium onion and a handful
of garlic cloves, whizz in the food processor until everything is minced. Add a package of
Canadian bacon (6 oz), cut to small pieces. While cooking, add salt to taste, plus 1/4 tsp of
baking soda to cut the acid. Once the onions and garlic have mellowed, remove from heat and add
    spices (basil, oregano, parsley).

    c) Garlicky green beans. Cut green beans to 1 inch pieces. Heat olive oil, add 1 T of minced garlic,
fry till garlic is browned but not burnt. Add green beans, stir fry, add a little bit of water.
Cook until beans are tender (but not mushy), adding water as needed. When beans are done, there
should be very little moisture left in the pan. Add seasoned salt and fresh ground black pepper
to taste. Matt's comment: "These are good! What did you put in here?"

I love my (Zyliss) garlic press. I've had it since college, use it at least 1x a week, it's never
    failed me.

    Yum... -j.
