A lot of people ride Time cleats. Time makes good pedals. As it happens, the guy who started Time, is the guy who designed the first Look pedal. Time cleats have a decent lifespan. I can't tell you anything else about the pedals about which you ask, 'cuz, well, I ride Looks and have never given Times a go. Someone will chime in, though, with comments from experience.

I've only used the Time pedals that were made back in the 90's. I much prefered the pedals and cleats but the bearings were just as [censored] as the Look pedals of the era.

I still have a pair of Time criteriums and original white Look pedals somewhere. Both have 'square' bearings... :eek:

Sure.

RXS cleats last ages. I have a series of punctures on one winters ride last year and had to walk 8km to the nearest town, the cleats were still fine after as they have little nubs to aid walking.
The pedals are comfy and light too. Best thing I ever bought for the bike.

I have 6 or 8 pairs of old school Time (Equipe) pedals on all my bikes and my wife's bikes along with my tandem and my spin bike. Everyhting from the standard Sport, the Crits and the titanium/magnesium jobs. They are about the only thing "old" I still have. I keep telling myself to get new pedals, but these are as good as the day I got them. Bearings are smooth as silk with zero maintainance on my part.

Can't say about the new ones, but the old ones live on and will not die.

I'm on my second pair of time RXS pedals since switching last spring. The first pair was warrantied after the bearing on one got clicky.

Rider reviews on RoadBikeReview: cycling gear reviews, forums, and classifieds are not altogether glowing. The strong points are easy exit, nice float with adjustable resistance, nice platform, low stack height, nice cornering clearance, durable cleats, positive connection with no inadvertent release, and low weight. One pan that shouldn't be a showstopper is that some found them difficult to clip in to. The showstoppers, though, are bearing and platform failures.

I hear Time is introducing a new road pedal design for next season. In the mean time I'm recommending Shimano and Look Keo. Speedplay is fine for people who have friends who recommend them, and I'll have an opinion on Mavic when more data starts coming in. I'll also let this thread know how my second pair of Times is holding up.

yes please keep my posted. i already got the time pedals. these babies are really hard to engage. i literally have to put all my weight on one side to engage the pedals! does the warranty still hold if you got it on the internet?

If you bought them from a Time dealer, I don't see why not. Otherwise--I don't know.

I've been useing time pedals for the last 4 years, probably only done 8-9000 km though but have had no troubles at all, and cleats are still fine, pedals can be adjusted, mine are easy to get in and out of

Put three people in a room and ask about pedals, get four opinions. All the big names, Speedplay, Look, Time, shimano, others, work well. They all do they same thing, a little differently.

Time is a good alternative but what about Look pedals are you trying to 'fix'. What problem are you trying to solve? I use Speedplay, BTW(Zero) after using Campagnolo(Profit) and the Look based ones for years. Wanted a double sided pedal for my fixie, liked them, put on my geared bike but they did the same thing as Look/Campagnolo.

Ran across this thread on a search for info on another Time pedal. I guess it's time to get the zombie started.

Bearings on the new pair were holding up well, but I broke the toe hold-down lug on the right pedal due to a sloppy and impatient clip-in. My fault entirely, but when I related my story to a mechanic at another shop, he showed me a box full of RXS pedals with broken bodies.

I've since switched to Speedplay Zeroes.
