  1. I enjoy the DdF, but I'm still well short of knowledge.

Example: One of the stages about a week ago was won by a 4-man, or 5-man breakaway.

About 10 seconds later, the peloton appeared round the corner.

Here is my question. Why were the front ten leading peloton riders standing on their pedals? Surely all the points and placings had been won by the breakaway?

The finish was shown as a repeat several times, so I don't think I made a mistake.

Not sure which stage you're talking about exactly, but with Cav and Hushovd in a tight battle for the points jersey, they were scrabbling for every point they could get, so a 6th place finish vs being 6-8-10 spots back would have been a BIG deal for either of them.

    Thanks for the response 🙂

I had a quick look at Wikipedia. I see that nowadays the first 25 riders can get points on the flat stages.

I haven't watched the Tour for 3 years, and I thought that there were only points for 1-2-3 at end of each sprint stage.

I learn something new every day 🙂

  4. Yeah, lots of points on offer at the ends of the stages like you found out. On flats, top 20 or 25 get points.

There are also points on offer - 6-4-2 - for the first three through intermediate sprint points. These, though, are usually taken by whatever breakaway happens to be out on the road ahead of the peloton.
