After reading your post, I check this site out (American Trails: Trail Resources in Pennsylvania). I'm very impressed with PA's bike-accessibilty.

If you ever make it to Wisconsin, we also have many bike trails (Wisconsin Bicycling: Wisconsin Bike Trails)

Check out the touring section of this site - it has some nice routes in that area with lots of info.

Check out this link for a complete listing of the major trails in Ohio. Ohio Bikeways - Regional Ohio Bike Trail Map List Some of them, such as the Ohio to Erie Trail have a combination of road and paved trails. There are a lot of B&B accomodations or small hotels in the towns along the routes.
