The last part was not a repeat, it just looked the same. I would have left it out all together,
but I only collected 10 minutes of the two hours of video I took. I forgot to check the helmet
cam batteries before I left. I'm new to this. It will get better with time. I appreciate the
comments, though.

It wasn't a question of not being able to ride the section (I walked quite a bit on that ride). As
for the "blow through", there were two paths through it. I took the other rather than crashing into
the person in front of me. I don't go off trail as I spend a considerable amount of my time helping
to build and maintain them. Wissahickon is a hot spot right now between the different trail users. I
certainly would not want to anger the peds.

Mea culpa! I just went back through the editor and you are right. I took the wrong clip from the
media pool (they all looked the same). I'm sorry. I'll have to re-edit.

let me get this straight... John calls you on cutting through the woods, and you just say,: "oops, I
shouldn't have shown that section?" ( that's how it reads between the lines to me....)

somehow my dl got truncated at about 4 minutes, so I didn't get to see the whole thing. My comment
is, for interest for viewers the first 2.5 minutes of fireroad and bike path could be taken out,
it's just not very interesting.

No. The oops was that I did duplicate a section of footage. There was no cutting through the woods.
IMBA and Mountain Bike Patrol honor.

I know there's boring stuff in there. Like I said, the batteries went dead 10 minutes in. I kept
what I could. I'll do better next time. I have two hours worth of sound if your interested
though. 🙂

Cool. It's nice to see clips like that and to see where other folks ride. Some things look just the
same and others don't.

You might want to consider how you set up your sights. What I mean is that the other riders are
always in the top edge of the frame and you're filming pretty much what you're looking at between
your front wheel and the rearwheel in front of you. I haven't done any videos on bikes, but I used
to do a whole lot of filming in freefall when skydiving. I'd say that is a lot easier than on a bike
because you don't have to watch out for the road. The trick was to always be aware of what was in my
sights with the peripheral vision while leaving my centered vision to check out for other jumpers
swooping in, the ground and my altimeter etc. In the beginning I had a little ring fastened to my
helmet that was aimed the same as the camera. With my peripheral vision I could keep my target
centered in the ring while I concentrated on my own skydive. I wouldn't recommend mounting a ring in
front of your eye on a bike though, in case you crash. After some time I didn't need the ring
because I knew where my camera was pointed anyway.

I'd second the comment that fireroad climbs are almost always better off edited out. Also, tilt the
camera back a little. I would go with Bill Porter's idea that the horizon line sould be at about 60%
of the way up the screen, generally speaking.

One last point: don't let your friends gap you on the downhills- stay as close to their wheels as
you can. It makes for better video.

Ah, I see where you could get that idea. In the 5:26 - 5:29 segment, me and rider in front were on
trail. In the 5:35 - 5:37 segment, the rider with the blue jersey looks like he is off trail and
cutting in on a diagonal. I don't recall if he was on a trail or not. If not, I agree he shouldn't
be there. Anyway, I just agree with you that riders should stay on the trails.
